The wooden clutch bag has been popping up all over Instagram and the fashion world, quickly becoming a hot trend with influencers, celebrities and everyone! But where can you really get the best of this trend? Read on to find out!

Cult Gaia

The Original creator of the wooden ark bag is easily the most expensive of the group, coming in at a pretty hefty £114 or $148.

Despite the price, this bag definitely tops the quality contest as you can tell from the photos, it has extra wooden beads, in between the wood strips, whereas other bags leave the plastic visible. Though I don’t personally own this bag, I can imagine that the quality of the wood is also better than the others.

Cult Gaia offers a range of colours and materials from wood to acrylic, in many colours, tortoise shell patterns and even multicoloured options. There are many other similar designs of wooden bag at Cult Gaia if you aren’t fond of the shape of this clutch. For the more adventurous fashionista, this may be the best option if you’re looking for a colourful splash!

If you’re willing to splurge on this bag you’ll be guaranteed of the quality and have more choice in what you would like (including size ranging from mini to extra large). However, I don’t think this bag is worth it when you could have something very similar for half of the price or less! If you stick to designer, this is great option!

Pretty Little Thing

The popular internet based fast fashion company recently jumped on the wooden bag band wagon and released this design in several colours.

Their bags come with a striking resemblance to Cult Gaia’s original design and it is quite apparent the idea has been copied! If you don’t mind going for the fake (like me) this pretty little thing is available for £35, as a cheaper alternative to the real thing.

This bag has also been popular with influencers on instagram such as @lissyroddyy. Though the high street option is cheaper, there certainly is doubt of the same quality assurance.

eBay

Finally I come to the ultimate ripoff, eBay. A bargain at only £12.99 (+ £5.99 delivery) this wooden clutch is somewhat of a hidden gem.

When shopping for a bag of this kind, I didn’t mind about the quality or brand as I only wanted it for an Instagram post so I went with the cheapest option of eBay.

Though it did seem a little questionable at first, when it arrived a few weeks later, I was shocked! The bag feels very sturdy and remarkably good quality. The eBay seller I used offered the plain wooden colour or a black finish, depending on the seller you may be able to find other colours or sizes.

Unfortunately there is some exposed plastic like with the pretty little thing bag, however this isn’t very visible unless you are up close. I had one slight problem that the handles are a little stiff but as I don’t own any other bags like this, I can’t say whether that is a quality they all share!

If you are looking to save a buck and just get the original wood colour, this is the perfect option! To the untrained eye there’s virtually no difference between the three so I would have to recommend the ripoff here; especially if you’re not expecting this trend to last.
